FACING THE END OF THE PROJECT: VALIDATION AND RESULTS

After 25 months of enriching, high-value added work, the ALGAEMAX project has reached its end last 31st October.
The previous months before the end of the technical tasks have been really busy and exciting for the ALGAEMAX team. After a General Meeting held in Barcelona last July, where new partner SALATA was introduced to the rest of the team, the different SMEs and RTDs have worked together in order to close the final details of the ALGAEMAX prototype.
The validation of the prototype was held, as accorded, in partner SALATA’s all-year round production facilities in the region of Thuringia (Germany). The validation took place throughout October 2014.

AGRAME 2014

Next March 25th it will be held in Dubai one of the world’s most important and well known Agriculture Agro Show. AgraME is the largest Agribusiness Trade Event in the Middle East and this year will showcase over 250 international exhibitors. A great opportunity to meet the main leaders in the sector and to make them aware of ALGAEMAX goals and achievements.

Next April 7th Fraunhofer IGB will present their algae production activities and photobioreactor technology in the Hannover Messe event, one of the most important Exhibitions in Germany focus on both the scientific community and the industrial sector. The sector's key focus for the future is on integrated industry.

MERSIN 9th AGRODAYS IN TURKEY

CDU attended to the 9th International Agro Show Exhibition in Mersin, Turkey, as an exhibitor. The exhibition is visited by international professionals from Middle East countries, and also Turkish sector leaders. 4 days long organization had visitors more than 100.000 people, including farmers and local university academia.

M15 MEETING IN STUTTGART

The ALGAEMAX team received a training session on the operation of the ALGAEMAX technology. The technology has been fruitfully validated at Fraunhofer IGB laboratories during the last months and now it is time to proceed with the entire development of the prototype prior to validation in the facilities of our end users.

FIRST LABORATORY TESTS

Hosted by NPL, the Algaemax team is meeting today to present and assess the work done by NPL, SONIC and CRIC regarding laboratory fields during the first semester of research programme. A seminar on the different production systems currently used for microalgae cultivation is going to be offered by Fraunhofer as well.

CRIC (Centre for Research and Innovation of Catalonia), NPL (National Physical Laboratory) and IGB (Fraunhofer Institute for Interfacial Engineering and Biotechnology) are meeting in London today to schedule their wide collaboration for a challenged goal: to develop a high-impact solution for the emerging microalgae sector.

THE ALGAEMAX RESEARCH

After years of negotiations, a new research programme is to be launched today to break one of the major penetration barriers for the microalgae producers – the cost of harvesting and extraction. The idea came up from a Dutch company and was rapidly supported by a new entrepreneur from Turkey.
